This is like RIGHT on my corner now!  I met the guys yesterday since they were outside painting.

Oh shit, how’d I miss this?

Orchid Café, 212 Patchen Ave., nr. Macon St.,

(Grub Street)

Yeeeeeeeeah, so here’s the thing about all THAT.

The baked goods and sandwiches were good, although it took FOREVER to get anything there.  You had 5 million people asking how you were, meanwhile you’re waiting forever to get some food. The dinner entrees weren’t so hot when I went.  Food was raw (fish), over-cooked (fish) and under-cooked (pizza).

Once in the morning the coffee machine was broken, another day they wanted us to wait 15 mins, then one day last week they weren’t even open!

They were open this past Wednesday, and coffee was ready.  They made sure to point out their new menu which had breakfast combos and lots of new sandwiches.  I went online today to check it out, and a weird message popped up.  Not sure what’s going on with them.  They’ve been open less than a month and if they gave up THAT soon then it’s too bad.  I hoping it’s going to stay open and they can work out all the kinks.

Orchid Cafe

Oh, hmm.. Perhaps it’s too soon for rejoicing in the splendor that is chicken ‘n’ waffles. Some investigating is called for.. Lord only knows there’s gotta be an awesome spot in Bed-Stuy. Come to think of it, I think a couple years back, before I lived here, I had chicken and waffles done right - they had liquid butter in squirt bottles instead of ketchup. I gotta ask my fellow diners.. someone must remember. Will update with any developing details.
